It's finally time!

"Time for what?" you may ask?  Time for Andrew to start his job! 

This past week, Andrew went through three days of orientation.  He met lots of new people and got more information that one might be able to understand.  But, he started, nonetheless!

Tuesday, March 9th will be Andrew's official first day as a PA.  Neither of us can believe this day has finally come!  It seems like it has been so long.  It's been a lot of work for both of us, but the time has finally come!

Round Two (ding, ding)

So we got another 2 feet of snow on top of what we already had.  It was completely ridiculous, and I just wanted to share a couple pictures.

This was the view out of our back door onto the deck.  We normally have a nice view of the common area, but not right now!

This picture was taken looking off our front steps.  Andrew is down by our mailbox.  There is a pile of snow 7'-8' high in between.  Also buried is Andrew's car to the lower right.

This is our house and cars after the big dig!  Notice the huge drift over Andrew's car; we park under it now.  The pile behind my car (on the street) is huge, but everyone with a double parking pad has it because there isn't anywhere for it to go!

Snow? What snow?

Our house saw over two feet of snow with this last event.  We shoveled about 2' of snow on Saturday morning but then Andrew went out again Sunday and twice today to shovel even more.  He has freed both cars and the mailbox.  Our street is a one lane road with snow at least 7' on each side of the single lane that has been untouched. 

There just isn't anywhere else to put all of it!  The piles in our front yard are taller than me (not that it's a great feat to be taller than me, but still).  Our neighbor actually took "his snow" over to his father-in-law's house because he has more grass on which to dump all of the snow.  I'm not sure what we'll do if the predicted 10" comes tomorrow!

I've been very domestic throughout the snow storm.  I made crepes this morning for brunch.  They were filled with Tastefully Simple Rhubarb Strawberry Jam, drizzled with chocolate, and dusted with powdered sugar.  We'll see how long this lasts!  I'm running out of ingredients!

A New Job

Last night, Andrew sent the official email accepting the job at Franklin Square.  He'll start out on a 90 day trial where he will learn the ropes (and also get the remaining necessities for being a PA like a DEA number).  During the trial period, the hours are during the day.  Unfortunately, when the trial is over, Andrew's schedule goes to nights (from about 7pm to 7am) three nights a week.  Although this isn't his dream job, it is a good place to start.  We are excited for the opportunity and even more excited about the prospective of getting a paycheck! 

A Fresh Start

Our life is changing a lot these days... 

Andrew finished school at the end of October and passed his boards in November on the first try.  He is in the process of job searching which is proving to be more challenging that we had anticipated.  We were under the impression (had been told) that there were 4 jobs for every 1 new grad.  Well, it turns out those jobs, while they are there, are requesting experience as a PA.  There had to be a catch, right? 

Yesterday, Andrew received an offer from Franklin Square Hospital.  This is the very first offer and it is offering a decent amount of money.  The only problem is that it is nights and there is another job on the horizon that he really wants - at a prison in Baltimore.  That job pays better, is evenings, and is more interesting for him.  They told him they are very interested in him and that, from his resumé, he is exactly what they are looking for.  Now the only trick is going to get them to expedite so he can give Franklin Square an answer. 


I hope to keep everyone posted about our life changes.  There's a lot going on and I feel like I need to make sure to keep everyone in the loop.
